Thanks for your answers.
Using Jay's workaround (i.e. making a local copy of the gobal handle) it
works. So, I'm inclined to think like Jay (smarter than lucky), there is
a kind of limitation here.

Any more information is welcome (I must add there is no waste of time
for me,
more likely the contrary, but perhaps for others...)
