Type 1 is a Bus Error, error message: "dsbus error". I think this usually
indicates the program is accessing/looking for something it can't find, get
to, or perhaps shouldn't; I may be wrong. You can get all the codes from
something like MacErrors ($5 shareware),Easy Errors (free), and a few
others. The names escape me. If they are using a PPC with an earlier
operating system, there is also a "PPC interrupt" extension from Apple that
might help with random type 1 (and type 11 errrors).

Cut my crashes way down when I installed it, or at least let me recover
from them more often without the hard freeze.

I recently had a problem with the program "SmartSketch" whereby it would
crash _only_ if the Modern Memory Manager was running. Not fun but I did
enjoy the nifty new MacsBug info that I had never seen before in the
usually sparse messaged "Ascii Funhouse" window.
