The easiest way to solve the problem is not to let it happen in the first
place. The event that triggers the white dot (_updateEvt or _activateEvt, I
think, but couldn't pin it down for sure) is processed _before_ the program
receives its first _wndRefresh dialog event. So just shift the drawing call
_from_ initialization _to_ whatever routine handles your refresh events, and
the whole thing goes away.
