Joe, The QuickDraw GX routines were principally to enhance screen and print imaging, giving greater control than the existing QuickDraw. However, the RAM requirements and the fact that most applications at that time that could have used the additional QuickDraw GX routines already implemented the essential parts themselves, the results were not worth the effort for most of us. I started to port the more useful QuickDraw GX routines and gave up due to inconsistent errors and crashes. Although my coding was probably to blame for the most part, the fact remained QuickDraw GX was full of bugs and generally not reliable. To some extent, this may have contributed to its demise though not entirely. As for QuickDraw 3D, this is an entirely different matter. As the name suggests, the QuickDraw 3D routines are for rendering 3D models amongst other uses. Its overlap is more with QuickTime VR than with QuickDraw GX. The QuickTime 3D API is for PowerPC systems only. Currently, FBII is not easy to adapt for PowerPC Only use although Jamin <benjamen@...> did manage to make another PowerPC Only API (Navigation Services) available through DCOD methods. In short, I concur with other list members that porting QuickDraw GX would not be a productive use of your time. It would be better to start reading how to use QuickDraw 3D routines in readiness for when FB3 is ready to ship which is is more likely to support these routines. Hope this helps, Deep ---------- >From: Joe Lewis Wilkins <PepeToo@...> >To: futurebasic@... >Subject: Re: [FB] QuickDraw GX >Date: Mon, Jul 19, 1999, 3:55 pm > > Thanks for the feedback.
