Comparing USB to SCSI in terms of speed isn't really a fair comparison. USB does have the bandwidth to do CD burning reliably at about 2x, but I've been searching a long time for one that burns well at 4x and while many USB burners support it, they pretty much just give you coasters most of the time. I don't have any info about Firewire burners though. USB and Firewire are cheaper and easier to use than SCSI. And Firewire is generally much much faster than the SCSI ports built in on your old macs. That is why Apple went with them. -D
