Dongles appear to be on the way out. Most software is now going for a licence server. The software is installed on every machine in a school, but the license exists only for 10 copies. Someone fires up the software, if a spare licence is available then that machine gets the licence. If many people try getting a licence and they fail, then the sysadmin buys a 20 user licence.
