These are very un-Mac-ish things you're proposing and I, for one, would be seriously cheesed off if I loaded a program that messed with OS stuff like that. I've never encountered a program - Eric's Solitaire Sample might be the only exception - that didn't need a sharp axe between the eyes at some point or another. Ditto the shift-boot thing: Just last week I hung a Logitech USB mouse on my Bronze Powerbook and loaded the accompanying software, only to find it unable to start up. The proper software was available on the net, and all turned out well, but I would have an expensive doorstop if somebody took away the shift-boot.
