A good use for that extra Christmas money you'll be getting next week:

Because of the severe demands on my time that my "day-job" has been
making, plus the normal family stuff, etc., I have not done as well as I
had hoped at keeping the futurebasic.org site up to date. For this
reason, as memberships expired, I simply did nothing - the site passwords
(for AppleShare/IP access; nothing on the site is available to some and
not others, it's free for all) remain the same as they were on day one,
and will for the foreseeable future. No reminders were sent out asking
people to renew when their year was up.

The good part of that is that I've felt a bit less guilty about not
spending hours every week updating the site. The bad part is that, for
several months now, the ISP bill for the disk space has been coming out
of my pocket. (Which is okay, I guess, as the one thing I _did_ get
uploaded, due to popular demand of family & friends, was
<http://www.futurebasic.org/Bill/vacation/>...)

I _still_ don't have a bunch of time to devote to site maintenance, or to
burning CDs, but I'm going to break down and plead that anyone interested
in keeping futurebasic.org alive and well, _either_ email me off-list to
donate some of your time, or send me the measly $20 to join or renew.
Checks direct to me (payable to futurebasic.org) are prefered, but credit
cards and such can be used through
<https://secure.paypal.com/refer/pal=BMichael%40aol.com>. If you _do_ use
PayPal, please remember to email me your mailing address so I can ship
the CD, and if you send a check, please remember to include your email
address so I can send you the AppleShare/IP access information. I will
burn CDs just as soon as I can when I get payment, and as always, I won't
cash your check until the CD is shipped. (Can't do anything about PayPal,
they charge you immediately.)

If I can get just 10% of the people on this list to sign up or renew, the
ISP bill for futurebasic.org is covered for 2001. (And if I can get a
couple of volunteers to contribute time, there'll be more here for
everyone!) If you are a member and aren't sure if you need to renew, look
at your CD; they're all dated with the month and year you joined. If you
haven't expired yet, but would like a new CD of the site, they're $5.

I've also still got a dozen or so "Inside Basic Compleat" CDs, if anyone
needs one of those. Don't remember the price offhand (check the site) but
I think it's around $50.

Thanks!

Bill
