Robert P & Phil Y both posted the sort of stuff we're paying for (!) around
here, and good on both of you.
In our halting way, we're in the midst of two text things here, only one of
which we've been able to make fly.
Thing One opens any of those Gutenberg texts (kjv included), removes the
extraneous CRs and saves the reult as a BOBO file so Appleworks will open
it. That was a fairly simple matter that even I could manage. (By the way,
it does all of that on kjv in 22 ticks!)
Thing two is proving less tractable: in the debug window of our (Motorola
6808) micro emulator front end, we have something that is almost like a dumb
terminal, except that it is necessary to intercept some operator keystrokes
and interject something that makes the display look more like the old
Motorola emulators display. With a dumb window - one that just overflows out
the top of the window, all is well. When we try to put it into a scrollable
edit field with a scroll button (which will also allow copying and pasting)
(using ON EDIT and TEKEY$), the display becomes very erratic: it scrolls
down but not up. In this, second, case, the display doesn't roll; instead
about half (vertically) of the top line could be seen to be changing. If the
window is sent to the background and then the foreground, it heals up.
Disabling the ON EDIT also fixes the scrolling. This field is not
approaching the 32k limit.
The whole sordid project - in this respect at least - has stopped being fun.
Another nice little 4k download anyone?
