I've budgeted for a new Mac this year or next.  For what it's worth, I plan
to run non-OSX software on my trusty old can't-do-OSX 9600 and OSX software
on the new machine, which I'll purchase sometime after Apple starts
preinstalling the new OS (and perhaps after the next round of new hardware
announcements as well).

This should save me a lot of grief, plus I'll have the fun of trying to hook
the two Macs up to see if they'll play nice with one another.
