I suspect the turn toward Eunuchs based implementation of macOS. Eunuchs typically comes with all ports open, and the admin has to go around closing them off. Apples implementation is to go in the opposite direction with all ports closed. Then the admin has to go around and explicitly open those ports that are needed. This is a good idea and increases security and peace of mind. Unfortunately, it looks like the airport has fallen into the all ports closed category. For a buy it, plug it in, use it type of device this is just plain silliness. Its like buying a TV and then trying to discover where the on switch is. Hopefully it has one, somewhere. Oh you mean the TV is free but the remote costs $10,000. Groan.. Where is the middle ground here. The compromise between definitive security and simple usability. My worry is, is the OS going in this same direction. Peter mailto:peter@... "Through our efforts, oneness perfects itself" - William Gibson - Idoru
