Yes it is correct. What happens here is I am selecting a popup menu item and 
that selection sends me to one of 5 functions. Each function opens the file 
in the same way. I put in code for a different menu selection and checked 
gVolRefNum% and then compared it to gVolRefNum% in the bad section. It is the 
same in both, just before the call to OPEN. I know this worked before in an 
earlier version of the program but now is not. I am stuck.
