Well, that is kind, and it is true that I can make a simple problem difficult.

Hey, don't refrain on my account. :)

Really. I would rather plug this (or anything) in and go. I have the clone
tool, smudge tool, blur tool, sharpen tool, paintbrushes etc, all ready to
work into Compositor, just getting the mouse interpolation and sampling
correct is the holdup.

:)  What is going to be cool is painting filters onto the image in the
brushed areas only.
