Hell if I know -- I have problems finding my glasses. I just said the 
labels were replaced by comments -- which can be displayed in a list. 
And, if you can display the comments in a list, then most likely youi 
can access them somehow in FB -- but, I'm not that smart to figure 
out how.

Interesting application of the tint method. It would be interesting 
if files could have the same name, but be of a different "tint" and 
still exist concurrently on the same desktop (or whatever).

However, if comments can be displayed in a list, as they can now, 
then you should be able to keep track of "the result of processing" 
in similar fashion as you did with tints, no?  <-- my gnome-like 
answer. :-)

Well... if we had a "marker tint" I guess we would have a name for it. :-)
