Don't despair...I'm sure the list denizens will work this out with 
you.   Searching around tonight I found this site:

which claims to do what I think you are trying to do. You can 
download code at the bottom and the source is in PASCAL. While 
designed to solve a particular problem it looks flexible enough for 
our purposes. I'll keep searching...
