I was never sure that the cable wasn't the problem with my setup, because the IBM adapter I used was different from the pinouts on a Radio Shack adapter...I think the 2 and the 9 or something like that. Anyhow, one mapped to ground the other mapped to something else. It was hard to know which was correct, even when comparing to some RS232 pages I had. You definitely need what's called a "straight through" cable I think. Not one set up for a printer for instance. Robert
