Al, I got it, and if you did too you're probably kicking yourself just as vigorously as I am. Reference manual, pg 335: "NOTE: Using a negative type creates a window that is modal. Any attempt to click outside the window will cause a beep. This is often done with dialog boxes." So, for all your subsidiary windows, slip in that little minus sign in front of the constant type (the other minus sign is for hiding it until needed, but you knew that): WINDOW -2,,@rect,-_dialogFrame I tried it & IT WORKS!
