Ted & Jay:
From my testing, it appears that when something is moved to the
trash, it is flagged "trash to be emptied" regardless of what system
it is on. It will stay in that fagged condition until it is either
removed from the trash or if the trash (on some system to which it's
connected) is emptied. Sound reasonable?
BUT, if you take a folder from the USB drive and place it in the
trash; then move the USB drive to another computer; open the trash
and drag the folder from the trash to the new desktop; and then
remove the USB drive; the folder will be on the new desktop, but not
on the USB drive.
Note that the folder will no longer on the USB drive even though it
has never been "officially" deleted. It was simply transferred out of
the trash and in doing so was automatically deleted from the USB
drive. This seems to me to be an odd way to handle this.
I would have thought that if something was flagged for the trash, it
would stay that way unless the trash was either emptied OR the item
was placed back on the desktop of the drive from whence it came.
Interesting.
