I guess you mainly refer to Carbon and related technology.
If you take a critical look at Apple's unsteady way in the 1990s and
what happened somehow in parallel with the development of NEXT, the
drop of Carbon cannot surprise.
Carbon was introduced to permit coders an easy transition from
(classic) MacOS to OSX. Already at the time of the earliest OSX-Beta,
it was obvious that the Carbon-API sometime will be abandoned in
favor of the Cocoa-API that is a developed port of NEXT-technology
and written in ObjC. Today, nearly ten years later, Apple has decided
that the transition phase is over, i.e. current Mac software
development should be based on the Cocoa-API.
Straight forward, isn't it?
What about FB's future?
