Coloring the buttons in my case has nothing to do with emphasizing them. The reason I would like to color the buttons red, which would be the same color as the red window and the entire computer screen for that matter, is so that your eyes would remain dark adapted when using the computer to control a telescope at night. In the submarine Navy we called it "Rig for Red" and the whole control room would be bathed only in red light so that the conning officer wouldn't be blinded when he used the periscope at night.

No man knows how bad he is until he has tried very hard to be good.

The runtime supporting FB5 does not provide a way to colorize a push button but there are options ( see FB5 help for 'appearance button' ) to add small icons to a button. My suggestion is to avoid colorizing buttons or adding icons to them because it looks ( at least IMHO ) hokey and unprofessional. There are other ways to highlight selections and do emphasis without colorizing push buttons. Placards, image wells and other approaches are available. Maybe post a description of why the emphasis is needed and the list will often chime in with specific suggestions.
