dear list

another preposterous suggestion, but here goes.

Those who read macTech know that they produced a framework
for example code, called 'Sprocket'. This was a basic
(no pun intended) framework with all system 7 stuff incorporated.

Thus when they needed to do code examples, all they had to do
was take Sprocket and indicate which parts they were changing for
the benefits of the example.

Phil recently informed us that he had a good framework that he
had put online. There is the 'hidden' Andy framework. I have
developed a series of very rudimentary ones for different needs
and I'm sure you have too.

Howsabout us all agreeing on a common framework that could be
placed online somewhere. Then when we're having problems with
Apple Events, Drop and Drag whatever (although these should be in
the framework already :-) we can refer to a common base, for examples.

Or even a series of frameworks (mini-runtime, Event based, vanilla
FB...). (As PG is de facto a framework this mail doesn't apply to that.)

This would entail looking at the existing code - deciding what should
be in where and then adapting the existing to what is needed. Good
documentation would be needed of course.

Waiting on your valued opinions.
