An Australian "dangle"?

Okay, that'll get me flamed.. its a hard ward device that plugs in the
modem port, ADB port or printer port (rarely) that contains some resistors,
capacitors and maybe a "special" chip. You software "talks" to the hardware
in this appendage and when it sends it a value, it gets another one back.
If its not the right value, you know A> they don't have the dongle
attached, B> its the wrong dongle (they are configurable), or C> the Mac's
busted.

Not cheap solutions to stop piracy since you can disable the code that
checks just like you can disable anything else. I find a lot of them coming
with MIDI/Music software.
