I have picked up a few words from a couple of Chinese women I know.

Also, Transparent Language has a wonderful web site to help with survival
phrases in several languages.  This one is Chinese.  There are links at the
bottom for other languages.  My son learned some Swahili before going to
Tanzania on a mission trip.
