Just a question.
How much sense would it make to say "Timothy ( or anyone else) be not
drunk with "must" (fresh juice of the grape), or grape juice, or
Welch's, wherein is excess. But, be filled with the Holy Spirit".
There are 2 primary words for wine in the NT (gluekos & oinos). Both
are pretty general (as opposed to the OT where you have at least 13
words and several are very specific (shakar = inebriation). So, the
context has much to day about the meaning of the word in the text.
Therefore, Paul must not have been telling Timothy or the Ephesians to
drink grape juice.

I don't think any Medical Doctor would tell anyone with stomach cancer
to drink alcoholic wine, the MD would tell them to drink grapejuice. I
don't think Paul under the Holy Spirit told Timothy to drink alcoholic
wine either. Paul knew Timothy had stomack trouble.
