Kevin, I have an honest question. I would be willing to practice discipline
under the circumstances you described. Abortion is that big a deal to me. My
question: what do you think should be done? Should they be removed from the
membership of the church? Or is there is something else Biblical that should
be done? Interesting question, thanks.

Excellent points, Jerry. I thought the brother in NC was correct to
preach what he did. Some points of politics should not enter the
pulpit (Tax policy for instance) because there is neither a moral or
strong biblical position for it. Other points of politics are of
first order of importance for Christians (issues pertaining to life
and the sanctity of marriage for instance), on these issues we must
preach our convictions.
In the last couple of elections there have been a clear choice between
one who stood for life and marriage and another who was against a
biblical understanding of these issues. It's not a matter of
political parties. I pray for the day when we need to decide between
a pro-life/pro-marriage Republican and a pro-life/pro-marriage
Democrat.
Here's a question for you pastors: Would you exercise church
discipline against a member of your congregation who was an
abortionist? I certainly hope so. So why not exercise church
discipline against one who votes for someone who supports abortion?
