Hi Jerry, On 8/22/06, Jerry <jelewis@...> wrote: > > You confuse prophecy with writing of Scripture. You are right, they are not the same. But it is interesting, is it not, that God didn't use a woman to write Scripture. Why do you think that is? Do we use the exception to make the rule? If we were to use the dominant pattern of leadership and proclamation in the Bible, would that be male leadership or female leadership? > > No group that I have any knowledge of believes that modern day people who > are called as prophets are adding to the holy Scriptures. That's a whole other issue, one that touches upon the cessationalism. I fail to see how a modern "thus saith the Lord" statement, coming from a man or a woman, could be anything other than adding to Scripture. Why are modern prophetic utterances of a lessor quality? > > Christ gave gifts unto men, ... and He set ministries in the church, > including prophets ... Does He give the same gifts to all men and women? Does He not have the right to restrict certain gifts to certain people or to one sex? -- Grace and peace, Kevin Sigafoos --------------------- For from him and through him and to him are all things.
