Ah, I see. I need to know "the rest of the story.":0 I do think Creeds are very helpful so long as you recognize what they were meant to do. If asked, I do agree with those found in the book of Concord, but only because I believe they are the best exposition of scripture available on those given subjects. I do think that whether one realizes it or not, if one is truly part of the "orthodox" Christian church that one does ascribe to the 3 ecumenical creeds even if one doesn't realize it or know what they are. Simply because they are "orthodox" explanations of theology on those subjects. If someone said they *did not* agree with them I would want to make certain that 1) They understand them and 2) I would want to know why? Are they so-called "Apostolic" and don't believe in the Trinity? Do they not believe Jesus was 100% God and 100% man? Do they simply not like anything that looks like it might be from the RC or EO churches? Creeds can be good, but if you go much beyond the 3 ecumenicals (which center on "who is Jesus") then I would hope it was "denomination specific" such as the Book of Concord. I've been "burned" myself by creeds or by their use. I have wanted to be part of groups that have demanded I be dispensational to join. Well, thank you. I'm excluded then. Neither group called it a creed. They called it a "belief" or a "doctrinal statement" but it was a creed, nonetheless. Blessings, Randy > > In a message dated 4/14/2008 1:30:07 A.M.
