Jerry,

Praise God for His work of opening blind eyes and giving life to the dead!

Some Questions: How do you know that a real work of conversion has
been done in this man's life and in the boy's life? How long will you
wait before you baptize the two of them? Do you think that your
question, "Is there any good reason why you can't be saved today?,"
may have led to a false conversion? How will you know?

(I'm not saying that it wasn't a good question to ask because I wasn't
there for the conversation before/after. I am not, in any way, trying
to question the salvation of these two individuals. I'm asking these
questions in all sincerity.)

What responsibility do we, as men of God, have to prevent false
conversions or to not mislead people in coming to Christ with false
motives? I view evangelism as a work of God to open blind eyes to see
the glory of Christ in the Gospel (2 Co 4:4). If we simply offer a
person "fire insurance" then are we really doing the work of an
evangelist? If a person can imagine himself perfectly happy to be in
a heaven without the Person of Jesus Christ then did he really receive
the Gospel?

(Again, I'm not accusing you, Jerry, of any mishandling of the Gospel.
I'm just throwing the questions out there for discussion. And before
I am accused of some bias against evangelism because I am a Calvinist
-- that is not true. I am actively involved in evangelism. I LOVE
sharing the Gospel. I'm just raising the issue of methodology. I'm
not questioning our obligation (and privilege) of sharing the Gospel.)
