John, You are correct, it is difficult to give counsel when one doesn't want to be honest and to have the Bible as their standard. By frustration is also in the fact that I give her what I believe to be sound biblical advice only to have her family give a differing view.

Her family is a member of my church, but she isn't. They believe based on Matthew 5:32 that she isn't married now and can go back to her former husband. How would you respond to them?

Jeff

Sins against God and errors in judgment are not the same thing. I think the
young lady has far deeper problems than who she is married to at the moment
or in the future. I am glad you are the one giving the advice. JGR

left her husband and married her lover. She now realizes it was a sin, and
she made a mistake. She ask me if she should leave her new husband (the one
she had affair with) and go back to her old husband. At the time, I told
her that she needed to stay married to the man who she is currently married
to.Her mother has told her that because she committed adultery, therefore
really not married to the man who she calls her husband, and should go back
to her old husband.
