So Josh, does that mean you don't agree with 2, 3, and
4?
So the promotion with NCR was not a miracle? It may
have seemed like one! ;0) Having worked out of an
office in Springboro I have spent too much time at the
Wendy's on 73.
Are signs still for today? I know a professor at a
reformed seminary that believes that God still uses
supernatural means to direct His people and does not
rule out those who claim to have been guided verbally
by God just because he hasn't been. Is he trying too
hard to not box God in?

C.S. Lewis' book called, Miracles, changed the way I
view miracles. He takes the position that Chad
givesas #1, which I agree with wholeheartedly. It
takes away from beingable to view a birth as a
miracle, since millions of them happen everyday, but
we can still rejoice in the way that God gives us
life, andnew life.
I also agree with #5.
Thanks Chad.
Read Lewis!

1.. A miracle is a supernatural interventionin
thenatural order of things.
2. I agree with Sproul’s “clustering”. A fascinating
biblical theological study in the scriptures is
the“sign”,which, more often than not, is tied to
miracles.
3. If you look at the clustering, thosemiracles not
onlywere tied to “revelation”, but they were tied to
“men”. There was a mediation involved in the miracle,
just as there was theproclamation.
4. Since revelation has ended so too has themediation
ofmiracles. I don’t think one could say that miracles
no longerhappen (after all, regeneration is a
miracle). But miracles are nolongermediated by “men”.
Miracles no longer have “sign”status. And we no
longer have special revelation to
interpretsupernatural intervention. If someone has a
cancerous tumor one dayandno tumor the next, one would
be hard pressed to say that there wasn’t asupernatural
intervention in the natural order of things. But
again, wedon’t have special revelation to tell us for
sure. OTOH, we don’thave anything in scripture that
suggests supernatural intervention inthenatural order
of things no longer takes place.
5. I also agree with Jen that many thingsmight
beattributable to the “natural order of things”.
Don’tthrow me in with the mind over matter people :-),
but I don’t believewereally know everything there is
to know about the “natural order ofthings”. :-)
Btw.. thanks for the heads up on thecontentious elder
inour area. :-) I’d have to say such an occurrence is
due to God’sdivine sovereignty in secondary causes
(orchestrating events a certainway),rather than
“miracle”.
