Ok, now I see where you are coming from! I don't believe that the dichotomy has been as glaring to me but maybe you could expand upon this a little more. I may be missing something but I think that the book of Hebrews does an excellent job of contrasting the two systems. Again I say contrast and not trashing the superiority of the New Covenant over the Old Covenant. Harry Carlo:What I do not grasp is the apparent dichotomy I see in the forum between the law and Christ. I don't see such a dichotomy expressed with Zaspel and Wells, but I have seen it on SOG and with Lehrer. First, I don't know why Chad calls himself a NCT'er. He is a Reformed Baptist - and unless he is changed his view, he is not an NCT'er. Reformed Baptist does not equal NCT. Not even close. I don't know why he is defending it or calling himself a NCT'er. My clarification: There is obviously the dichotomy of the vast superiority of NC to the OC as far as Christ's office of priesthood, prophet, and King. But there are also elements of continuity between the two covenants. My contention is that in discussion group, the OC is so criticized as to being completely inadequate for much of anything it reaches the level of almost disparagement. As I said, what the Lord set up for Israel in the OC was a glorious setup. No other nation in the world had the access to God that Israel had. The fact that God would come down and set up anything with absolutely wicked people, is amazing in and of itself. We also have to remember (read Hebrews 10:1) that the OC was not ALL typology. It certainly included some or many shadows, but it was not ALL shadows. Wells and Zaspel emphasize both the elements of continuity of discontinuity of the covenant and that we are to observe all of Moses as it is fulfilled and taught by Jesus in the NC. I don't see that discussion here. Certainly lets continue to contrast the vast superiority of the NC to the OC, but let's not thrash the OC.
