Isn't it not so much the medium (other than one which itself is sinful), but
the use of the medium that matters?
And since the medium brings it's own additions (not static things making the
medium good or bad inherently, but enhancements or changes to the message
depending on how it's applied), the one using the medium needs to be aware
of how it's being used, and what elements that particular use of the medium
brings.
If the medium is music, be aware of how the tempo etc. being used will
impact the audience, to make sure you don't negate the meaning of the
message, but instead emphasize it.
Same with video images.
Don't use a schwastica(sp?) for instance to represent crucifixion because it
will be perceived to represent a kind of death, but lives TAKEN rather than
one GIVEN, and totally misses the sinlessness of Christ. (crude example,
but gets to the point).

Subject: [soundofgrace] Content contradicted by medium - Preaching
I hesitate to comment after the flurry of e-mails but it is an important
subject. I agree whole heartedly with the excellent posts by Chad (&
others), yet isn't it true that the content of what is proclaimed can be
contradicted by the method employed to actually proclaim it? What would be
regarded as an inappropriate media of proclamation?

Chad,
With all due respect, you don't get it sir. Because if you did, you wouldn't
ask such a ridiculous question. A skit is not the same "word of God" as a
sermon because it is a totally different medium and the mediums THEMSELVES
generate a message even apart from the content. One is VISUAL, one is
AUDIBLE.
But, since you just flat out refuse to prove your "other means or mediums"
instead of preaching, I guess we remain at a stand still on this.
