At The King's Chapel the collection box is used.  We
have been there for a little over 4 years.  I have
come to like it better than the "plate."  It takes
away the possible use of pressure or even the self
made pressure of 'what will the plate passer think.' 
I believe it to be a very small matter, but the little
things can make a difference sometimes.
Just my thought.
