Stoot denies does not deny "the eternal state of hell." He denies "eternal
conscious punishment." At first it appears to be word games but many are
convinced the distinction are legitimate.

Several years ago I asked a theologiy professor from Geneva College what
attracted so many good men to Stott's view. He replied (1) that it appeared
to magnify God's love and grace, but (2) it ultimately minimized the central
truth of the corss. He then smiled and said, "I should add that I use
Stott's book on the Cross as a text book in one of my classes. So . . .

At this point, I find no problem with the traditional view. However, in
spite of the fact Stott rejects part of that view, he is often grossly
misrepresented.
