Yes but it doesn't "tell us that Abraham was only righteous 
through perfect obedience to the law."
 
And yes Abraham did die.

Further, you're only telling half the story with Abraham. Genesis 26:5 says 
God's eternal blessings for Abraham are because he obeyed his commandments. 
It says nothing about "faith". Had Abraham not obeyed, he would have died 
as a covenant breaker (Genesis 17:14).
