JGR:  You make many valid points that I would think Chad should
acknowledge, at least to some extent.
However, what are the similarities between Adam's relationship with God
and cursing, and later man's relationship?  There does seem to be some
similarity.  For example, we could not say that Adam's relationship was
one that was eternally guaranteed based on the work of Another.  It was
conditional to some extent.  The Mosaic covenant was also conditional. 
They share a similar conditional aspect based on man's behavior. 
Although admittedly the men were very different, Adam sinless, later men
- sinners.
