If Adam had not eaten his righteousness would have been the righteousness of God through His creation but now we have the righteousness of God through sonship.
Galatians 3:26 "for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith."
See also Romans 8.

Chad asked: Are you suggesting that Christ's inherent righteousness as a member of the
Godhead is not "the same object undefiled"?
I think so.
Otherwise, if Adam didn't eat, his righteousness would have been an 'inherent righteousness as a member of the Godhead', no?
Maybe this is the crux of it.
Does Christ make us 'inherently righteous members of the Godhead', or living souls with righteous obedience TO the Godhead?
He doesn't make us one of him (meaning the Father), rather He became one of us to make us like him (the human son).
I'm over my head I'm sure, but...
