I notice that most of my questions remain without answers...like why a
deliberate ban on mention of the Holy Spirit in Rom. 7:7-25 and then he is
mentioned 14 times in 14 verses in Romans 8. Just a co-incidence?

Precisely.  Which is why both chapters are describing the same reality: life
in the Spirit.
