The veneer of the anonymity comes from threats made to his wellbeing. The cartoons are not far from the persona he maintained in the early days of the internet when he trolled the usenet newsgroups looking to engage Mormons, pagans, Catholics and other aberrations. Those that know him say his online demeanor at his Geneva site is actually a little more genteel than those early days. :-) Theologically, his most notable deviance was his posture a few years back that Arminians should not be considered brothers. I don't think he still holds that position. The veneer is a little unsettling and it should be. Transparency is inherent to biblical body life. The DR's theology and the online persona that flows from it do not reflect biblical ecclesiology, IMHO, and is more in tune with the rugged American individualism of our popular evangelicalism. Among his commendable contributions (other than the collection of great calvinist cartoons) is the extensive John Murray collection he has on his site, and his piecemeal Institutes and Berkhof posts on his list. The latter is one of the best uses of these internet chat lists I've ever seen. He's a colorful character... but as has been mentioned, it's usually better to lurk than to engage on his site. :-) Chad --- Maz <mazzy@...> wrote: > I would be surprised.
