Ah... the underlying assumption lays bare: let's go back to the shadows of
the Old Cola rather than enjoying the sweetness of the already/not yet New
Cola. It's more wallowing in the "sign" rather than the "thing signified",
and a refusal to admit that something *better* has fulfilled what is passing
away. This is the age of inbreaking of the New Generation.

Eschatology: it's the answer to EVERYTHING! :-)

CHAD: As for the diet coke, you're on your own. The "LAW" of this New
Covenant household is Pepsi, although gracious exception is granted to my
"sweetie" from time to time. :-) Of course, the exception is not without
due penalty. :-)

ME: Vile Pepsist! Would you advocate referring only to the "result" of a
beverage (i.e. pep) without revealing the underlying chemistry which, in its
original formulation, gave us the desired pep (i.e. cocaine). Will this not
set men to seeking the result without due respect to its cause? We
Coca-Colians are not afraid to reveal the very essence and underlying cause
of our forbears' fascination with the frothy beverage. The gracious
exception must be given - not to us - but to you shallow and weak cola
drinkers who deceive and distract the masses with a beverage strong on sweet
but lacking in the better things. It is a wonder that this world, consumed
as it is with its pursuit of instant gratification, has not been utterly won
over to the cloyingly sweet taste of the lesser cola. Our race no longer
has time to develope the acquired and mature taste for the subtler nuances
of a good cola. Instant sweetness so overwhelms the tongue of the P*psi (I
cannot bear to spell the whole word!) drinker that he has no time to
develope deeper, more-lasting sensibilities to the cornucopia of delicious
delights that is Coca-Cola.

Ah, but all of us have been reduced to a poor substitute from which to
derive our lifted spirits: caffeine. How shallow! How far we have fallen!
Even for us Coca-colians, the necter of "the pause that refreshes" is in our
name only. Our favored Cola no longer contains the extract of the cocoa
plant. Caramel and caffeine is all we have. We are mere shell of our former
selves.

Oooops... I've been known to have a "covenantalism moment". :-)
