Dear Moe,

I have often been taken back by the blasphemous statements that are
inadvertently made when the glorious names men give to their organizations
come into contact with the less-than-glorious realities of life. when I
pastored in Owensboro, KY, ( a VERY Catholic town) I heard and advertisment
for bingo at "HOly Spirit Catholic Church. Without batting an eye, the DJ
announced "Holy Spirit Bingo," on such and such a night.

it is, in my opinion, similarly blasphemous when the names of men are
attached to God's glorious things. I know there is no grief in heaven, but
if there were, it would be felt by those, who like Peter and Paul, have had
their names assigned to the Lord's churches. John Calvin cannot enjoy the
fact that his name has been assigned to the syetem of theology that
describes God's salvation.

Sometimes we play with glorious things as though they were playthings, and
at other times we take contemptible things and defile truly glorious and
holy things with them.

Well, didn't mean to get all preachy on you...your post just stirred some
thoughts.

Had a good time worshipping this morning. It is always good to meet with
Chirst and His people.

Joe T
