Brethren,
This is just my two cents (notice the meek, humble, conciliatory tone), I
am smiling warmly right now,
but, (Oh the dreaded "but"), I personally find it more offensive
sometimes to "respectfully" bow out of a discussion, than to frankly, and
honestly admit when you have been clearly proven to have misstated
something. One leaves the truth of the subject (if such truth in fact
exists) left in limbo, or ignored. The other fights for that truth.
Even if the truth is relatively insignificant, the principle of being
able to admit when we have been demonstrated to have erred is still a
factor. Where is the integrity in not being able to admit that we have
been proven wrong. In my opinion this is more tragic than getting
carried away and stepping over the line in rudeness in the zeal of one's
argument (I am not saying that occurred). Of course the big question is
if we have been conclusively been proven to be wrong? The answer seems
apparent to some but not to others. Is this where councils and
committees become a factor in deciding which statement is true? Do
elders decide the issue?

I intend this merely as food for thought. I am still on the wagon from
my competitive debating addiction. It has been 3 weeks that I've been
clean now. :-) Hopefully no one will strike blood and I will turn into
the shark on Finding Nemo, "Heres Brucey!" ....What?? I had to watch
it with my kids.

Please forgive me for writing this after John's intriguing statements of
NCT basics. This appears to be an important work which you are
contemplating pursuing. Who are going to be the ones to decide on your
core values? I know I would not qualify as I consider myself a friendly
and appreciative outsider who benefits from your insights. I would
encourage you to write your views not in response to dispensational or
covenant theology, but more as positive statements of what you believe
the Scriptures teach. The result will be something loftier than
reactions to these systems. Not that you asked or needed it, but I offer
my advice freely- no charge.

In any event, Godspeed to you, and grace upon grace.
