Harry, I dug around a little and can't find the answer to the "women" question. It did cause me to see another verse, though, where the Jews "took up stones to throw at Him" after Jesus declared "I AM" (John 8:59). Whether the Jews were violating Roman law in actually trying to stone him (which would have been the proper punishment for "blasphemy") I'm not sure.
