I beg to differ.
The departure from the Law was not in forgiveness in the sense of 'looking
the other way'.
In fact it was no departure really.
The 'surprise' however, was in substituting Himself to the required
condemnation and death for her. In her place.
That is no departure. That is perfect fulfillment. Even better than her
life would have accomplished.
