Dear Friends

Just want to pass on the following from our brethren in Pensacola.

In Him

Ian

Dear Brethren,

I greet you all in the blessed name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I
pray this finds you well.

I'm sure by now that as pastors and elders, you have been inundated with
requests regarding relief for those suffering in the wake of Hurricane
Katrina. Mount Zion and Vision Forum (in San Antonio, TX) are joining
together to try to coordinate efforts to relieve the suffering of the Lord's
people. There are huge organizations like the Red Cross, FEMA, and others
actively engaged in attempting to meet the needs of all that they can. While
we want to help any of those who are neighbors, we are especially concerned
to meet the needs of the household of faith.

So we're simply asking two things:

1.. If you know of pastors/churches who have needs, especially in areas
that received little media coverage, please send me that information and we
will try to coordinate efforts to get help to them. While our resources are
limited, we serve a great and mighty God, Who we trust to provide for His
beloved children. Baton Rouge, LA, and Pensacola, FL, are basically the
"bookends" on either side of the disaster, so MZ has some access to those
areas (it is limited by damage to roads and extreme fuel shortage, but we
look to the Lord to overcome those difficulties).

2.. If you have resources you want to make available, i.e., room(s),
apartments in which relocated families/individuals might stay, funds, food,
water, hygiene articles, or any useful resources, please contact me.

Please *don't* send anything at this point. We want to see what's available
and the best way to distribute.

We will be organizing our efforts this week and taking stock of what's
available, so that we might good stewards of the Lord's resources. We
believe in accountability for His resources, and we have not always been
satisfied with the way the big organizations handle funds.

You are probably all making efforts to help in some way, for which we praise
and thank the Lord. If you would like to work through local churches in
this, please contact me.

Your servant and brother in Christ,

Jeff Pollard
