Great question, Moe. Although both believers under the Old and New Covenants can rejoice in God's law (much like a child and an adult can agree and rejoice over something together), only the New Covenant believer (adult son) had God's law written in His heart and can rejoice in a more comprehensive and fulfilled way, which is a New Covenant distinctive (Heb. 8). There is a huge difference in being regenerated (both covenants) and being sealed with the Spirit -- the latter being the sign of the New Covenant (Jn. 7:39).
