Thanks for your thoughts.  My point (even on the RBDL) wasn't to hammer the
RB's, esp. Renihan.  He's forgotten more Baptist history than I know.  The
positive I take from this is that this is an instance in Reformed Baptist
history where we have evidence that not all toed the strict covenantalism
contained in the 1689.  Not all about the NCT is *novel* (to use their
word), even in Puritan circles.

I agree with Terry's assessment of the 1646.  It is a remarkable profession
of Christology that is lacking in its sibling confessions.  That's one of
the reasons why I chose to incorporate the 1646 into my recently finished
confession of faith for my ordination.  If NCT, were ever to encode its
thought into a confession, the 1646 would be a great template to build from,
IMHO.
