The deception is in the authority that comes in addressing the congregation
with the scriptures, not the scriptures themselves. Again, this, IMHO, is a
false dichotomy between authority in reading and authority in preaching,
just as it is a false dichotomy between the reading and preaching of the
word in corporate worship.
