CHAD:  The interpretation is the application.
   
  MARK:  You need to keep a dictionary nearby.  An interpretation is NOT an application.  Otherwise, all I have to do to "love my neighbor" is simply interpret what the text means and, viola, I've applied the passage.  I think James (Jam. 2:15-16) would take issue with you on your definitions.  The demons wouldn't (Jam. 2:19), but James would.

interpretation.

There's no dichotomy between the application of scripture and the 
interpretation. The interpretation is the application.
