Do you deny the fact that Christians are often forgetful hearers? Your church has preached on tithing and now every Christian there gives 10% all the time? Your church has preached sermons mentioning certains sins which everyone now totally avoids? Your church has preached on faith and now no one there ever has any doubts? Is this an illustration of the clergy - laity distinction in that the clergy lacks all reality regarding the laity to suffer their point? Paul and the NT authors always wrote to the visible church, among whom sat goats. Those *addressed* and those *described* may or may not be one and the same.
